More later, but for now, a few thoughts.
1. Not much artist representation here. Okay, barely any. Ug. I'm calling myself an artist today for the purposes of being an "artist" voice at the table.
2. So far, many of the same questions are being asked that have been asked at many similar meetings I've been to in the past. So far, there are not many new ideas floating around. So far there is a general, "Things are bad, we should do something attitude."
3. Social media is where it's at. We either get with it, or are rolled over by the train that is coming.
4. Chaos is needed. That's an important point that has been percolating today.
5. Things will not happen ever until one person, just one person, says, "Fuck it, let's do this thing."
6. I have had too much coffee to drink and too little peeing to follow that up.
So, I will pee, eat something and then synthesize more thoughts tonight. Tune in.
3 smart alecky remarks:
It seems to me we have lots of groups talking about doing lots of things. But what we need are groups doing these things... Be it in art, transit, green, or whatever movement.
maybe what we need is people paying attention to the groups that are doing these things, so that they don't have to spend a lot of time shouting "hey! Hey! Look at me! I'm doing things over here! LOOK! I'll- hey look, i'll even, i'll cook you a nice fancy curry dinner and listen to you talk for a couple hours if you'll just pay attention to the things i'm doing! Hey!"
Okay, by the numbers.
1. That fucking sucks.
2. This probably follows directly from #1.
3. Social media is only the cowcatcher on the train that these people are going to grab onto uselessly as the train runs them down.
4. "Chaos is needed" is a bizarre statement. Chaos is present and unavoidable. The only question is, how are you going to interact with and understand the chaos?
5. yep.
6. okay.
